lib-ir: Scholars' Bank news: Sept. 2, 2005
A couple items of note:
1) We just surpassed 1100 items today. Hilary Hart, Mary
Grenci, Tom Stave, Marion Obar and I were all adding items today.
Kudos to everyone for the hard work.
2) We just set up a brand new community with several collections
that are being administered by Tom Stave. This is the
Oregon Local Documents (Cities)
community at:
https://scholarsbank.uoregon.edu/dspace/handle/1794/1270
I've been working with Tom the past couple of weeks on
setting up the infrastructure and we went live with it today.
I'll let Tom post to the list and explain more about this community
and what it will contain. I'm excited because of the content and
also because it's the first time that any substantial number of
contributions are going to be added by anyone outside of
MDLS. Ted Smith will also be a collection administrator
within this community.
3) We are making good progress on digitizing the content
of the journal _Dissociation_. Mary Grenci and I set up the
infrastructure and Hilary Hart and I worked out the details
of the digitization (with Corey's help) and set up the
procedure for submitting each article individually to the
collection. Next week, Hilary will be training other MDLS
staff in the digitizing and submission/cataloging of the
articles.
4) Barb and I have some meetings set up next week
to work with more faculty interested in getting set up
in Scholars' Bank. We really have turned the corner.
