lib-ir: Potential candidate for SB
I hope we would not need to differentiate between adjunct faculty and
tenure track. This opportunity sounds intriguing.

I was contacted today by Chet
Bowers, adjunct
professor in Environmental Studies. He was a
professor for 20+ years at UO, then at PSU, and
is continuing here as an adjunct.
He is starting up an open-access, peer-reveiewed
journal and had contacted me initially wondering
how he would go about getting an ISSN for the
journal and getting libraries to catalog the
journal. I just spent the past hour meeting
with him and discussing the possibility of setting
up a community for his journal or for related
publications in Scholars' Bank. He seemed
very interested and went away with a lot of
information (about SB, the DOAJ, and other
things) and indicated he would get back
to me.
In the meantime, we have some issues we
need to discuss about what it would
mean to host a journal within SB.
Is the fact that a founder and member of
a journal's editorial board is an adjunct
faculty member at UO sufficient grounds
for us to host a journal in Scholars' Bank?
There are other issues, as well, but that's
the first one that comes to mind.
