lib-ir: report for Council
Carol,
I think we also "increased awareness of library staff (or subject
specialists) regarding institutional repositories as one tool for dealing
with changing scholarly communication". This is not elegant
phrasing, but it is 5:20 after Library Council meeting. Barb

Subject: lib-ir: report for Council
I'm working on the report that will need to be submitted to
Library Council for the retreat on December 4. In part of
that report, I'm outlining our accomplishments. This is what
I have so far (not necessarily in elegant language):
* an understanding of the policy issues of
institutional repositories
* an understanding of the different models that could
be followed in
setting up an IR
* an awareness of the complexity of the preservation
and technical
needs of IRs
* having made a large number of contacts with faculty
to explain the
concept and solicit submissions
* a stable pilot implementation using one particular
software
application
* a foundation of policy and user documentation for
our site
* a plan of where to go from here
What other accomplishments do you think we can point to?
Carol
