RE: lib-ir: Good news
On
collection name, I recommend that we try to standardize on "<department>
Working Papers" or "<department> Papers" and not include the word
"faculty". In most departments, the community will want to accept
submissions from people who may have somewhat ambiguous status, e.g. post docs
or even advanced graduate students.
We
also want to try to avoid generic names like "Working Papers" since some dspace
lists present the collection name without saying which community it's in.
If you try to submit to dspace you'll get a pulldown list of collections, and
it's going to be very confusing if there are 42 different collections all named
"Working Papers".
So, I
propose that the PPPM community get an additional collection named something
like
PPPM Papers
PPPM Working
Papers
or
somesuch.
In
"Psychology Working Papers" you'll find at least 3 different kinds of things
submitted by Jennifer Freyd:
- reprints of published
articles
- true "working papers", usually
prepared as tutorials and designed to be available on the
web
- a conference presentation,
consisting of slides from the PPT presentation and some additional supporting
materials.
