light-headed. many naps.

Monday, July 31st, 2006

it’s possible that a few days of digestive upset have resulted in some dehydration, which would account for tee’s light-headedness and lassitude. tee will report to the grants pass branch of oncology & hematology associates, and get rehydrated. it’s like chemo, only with saline solution. susanne will sit with her.

it’s, of course, possible that the symptoms have some more sinister explanation. perhaps some light will be shed at the oncologist appointment thursday.

tangren made chicken for dinner tonight, and hayward is the overnight angel.

last i heard, tee still hadn’t mustered the focus necessary to read all the nice comments. maybe somebody can sit with her and read them to her, like the dragon used to.

now would probably be a good time to turn up the light, people.

another special treat

the publicity photo susanne took three days ago. right here.

a sweet and quiet day

Sunday, July 30th, 2006

charlotte hutt was the overnight angel, and she and tee slept in. then they had spiced coffee and pleasant conversation.

charlotte cook came over in the afternoon, and tee says charlotte’s the sort of person she feels utterly comfortable with. tee alternately napped and chatted with ms. cook.

this afternoon many of tee’s friends attended a memorial gathering for luann houda, who died last month. tee wasn’t up to it, but remembers luann fondly, and wishes her well in her next adventure. (tee says luann was bev’s last lover before tee and bev got together.)

holly hertel is tonight’s overnight angel. there was pizza for dinner, and i’d bet the farm there’s canasta right this minute.

shred-o-rama

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

tee got to go to her saturday morning meeting today, which is always a Good Thing. then she went out and bought a shredder. she and ni aodagain spent a great deal of time making confetti, a very satisfying occupation. tee reports that ni aodagain did most of the actual shredding, with tee listening to the melodies.

it was another day of many naps. during periods of thoughtful lassitude, tee once again made little lists of what she wanted to do when she was vertical, and then she’d get up and do some of them, and then she’d have another nap. it’s a pattern, and patterns can be very soothing.

bernie came over and did a lot of things that needed doing outside. jeanne did a bunch of things that needed doing inside. ni aodagain made order in the kitchen, and as of the blog phone call, charlotte was cooking dinner for tee and max.

and you all know what comes next. where there’s life, there’s canasta.

incrementally productive

Friday, July 28th, 2006

tee spent much of the day on the sofa, thinking of things she ought to get up and do, and then getting up and doing three or four of them, and then being horizontal again. you can get a surprising amount done that way. she sent the publicity photo off to the publisher, got her laundry done, pulled a bicycle out of a shed for max.

rebecca, back from her travels and travails, came over for a nice visit today, and jeanne made tee’s affairs a little tidier than they were before. jennie council spent the day, and ni aodagain is due to arrive within the hour.

i’ve pointed tee at the outpouring of comments. she probably won’t keep up with them, but i bet she reads today’s spate.

new comments policy

Friday, July 28th, 2006

there’ve been so few comments, i decided to poke around in the innards of blogger, and change the settings for this blog.

hereafter, you don’t have to have a blogger account to post a comment. it’ll say the comment’s from “anonymous,” and it’s up to you to sign it, but i’m opening it up, in the hope that it’ll get a little noisier in here.

if it gets positively rowdy, i’ll restrict it again, but i’m sure it’s all nice people reading this, so that won’t be necessary.

so: what were you wanting to say, but blogger wouldn’t let you?

less sleep, more action today

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

apparently the antibiotic is working its magic. tee felt up to considerably more activity today than yesterday.

she and charlotte had a nice visit this morning, before charlotte went home. then susanne petermann and tee worked on a project together. the idea was to get publicity photographs that didn’t make tee look sick. it took four tries, but they finally succeeded.

tee napped in the afternoon, and then tangren arrived. she made a lovely salmon dinner, which tee and max and tangren are at this very moment enjoying. jennie council will be along in awhile.

and then a great voice will be heard from the sky, saying “let there be canasta.” and there will be canasta.

some days, the only thing worth doing

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

is sleeping. today was one of those days, for tee. since the weather was mercifully cooler, tee could just recline on the sofa, dreaming and dozing.

she’s taking antibiotics, and that means her body is fully focused on the business of fighting an infection. it doesn’t have the excess energy to provide such luxuries as consciousness.

tee’s a little uneasy about a day spent dreaming, since it’s so unlike her life as she knows it, but the dragon has been charting this river’s course, and points out that so far there hasn’t been a straight line anywhere in it. for the last five months, it’s been down and up, with the downs almost always being followed by appreciable (and appreciated) ups. here’s how i’d bet: tomorrow she’ll feel a little more energetic, and the day after she may actually accomplish something.

susanne spent the day, and she’s very good company for tee. susanne spends time in the studio (where tee is always welcome) working on her translations. she’s somebody in the house, listening to the monitor in case tee needs something, but otherwise leaving tee at liberty to do whatever she needs to do: in this case, sleep.

even though it’s wednesday, no “former” art students brought anything to show tee, which is just fine, because it would have impeded the progress of tee’s nap marathon.

charlotte made dinner and brought it over. potato salad and fruit salad, “both great,” tee says. and right about now, tee’s going to her regular bed, for her regularly scheduled beauty sleep.

surrounded, invisibly, by love, light, and the healing wishes of her legions of friends and fans.

is it hot in here,

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

(oh, wait, i already did that one once.)

tee’s temperature continued high all afternoon, peaking at 100.7. either tylenol or antibiotics or the actual cooling of the outside world (or all three together) finally worked, and it’s back down to 97.

she’s currently engaged in a thrillingly close canasta game, with beth, susanne, and max as her partner. tee and max won the first one. (and we all know how happy that must have made max…)

peace, y’all. g’night.

ct scan went without problems

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

tee has an appointment with dr. sue for next wednesday, and that, apparently, is the soonest we can hope for any clues about what it revealed.

tee’s resting now, and glad to be finished drinking unthinkable concoctions.

[correction: the appt with dr. sue is next thursday, not wednesday.]
