All UO Libraries offer wireless (802.11b or Wi-Fi) access to the Internet to students, faculty and staff of the University of Oregon. Wireless connectivity allows UO patrons with a laptop and wireless card or built-in wireless to login to the campus computing network and establish a high-speed connection for their computer whenever they are in range of a wireless access point. Members of the campus community can check email, participate in class discussions, review assignments, search library databases, read electronic journals, print a paper, or simply surf the Web. Non-UO patrons will not be able to use wireless.
Information about or assistance with installing wireless and networking is
available from the UO Information Services. In person assistance can be obtained at
the Help Desk in 151 McKenzie Hall. Telephone support for wireless networking is
available at (541) 346-4412.
Faculty, staff and students affiliated with Oregon State University or Portland State University can use their login credentials from their home institution to login to the UO network.
UO faculty and staff can sponsor guests visiting the UO campus. Guest wireless accounts provide access to the Internet with the guest's laptop. Guest wireless accounts do not give guests access to licensed library resources or provide a login for academic workstations.
