To add the Science BW (Dell 5310n) printer to your Vista laptop, follow the instructions below:
Note: if you are unsure which version of Vista your laptop is running,
look in your computer properties screen (Open the start menu,
right-click with your cursor over "Computer" and select "Properties.")
Your OS version will be listed. 1. Download the appropriate executable
file for your operating system
Vista 32 bit
Vista 64 bit
2. Run the file. (You will need to accept the license agreement and
your computer may prompt you for authorization to make system changes.)
The Dell printer driver will be extracted to the specified directory
for later use.

3. Go to the control panel, and select Printers. Click on the button at the top of the screen that reads "Add a Printer."
4. Select "Add a local printer".

5. Select "Create a new port:" and "Standard TCP/IP Port" and press "Next"

6. Set "Device type" to "Autodetect" and use "libprint3" for the
Hostname, and "
science_bw" (not reference_bw as in the image) for the Port name. Unselect "Query the
printer and automatically select the driver," and press "Next."

7. Under Device Type select "Custom" and press "Settings"

8. Set "Port Name" and "Queue Name" to "
science_bw" (not reference_bw as in the image) and "Printer or
IP Address" to "libprint3." Protocol should be set to "LPR" and Byte
Counting must be enabled. Press OK.

9. Press Next.

10. Press "Have Disk" and under "Copy manufacturer's files from" press
the "Browse" button. Navigate to the directory the driver was extracted
to earlier and select "DKAATC40" (.inf) NOTE - by default this file
will conveniently be located in
c:dellDriversconvXLdriversprintwin_2kxp. Press Open, and OK.

11. Select "Dell Laser Printer 5310n" and press "Next."

You may be prompted to authorize system changes - if so press "Continue."
The final setup will take place - the process may take a minute or two. Wait patiently and then the setup will be complete.
By default the driver is installed without duplex (2 sided) printing
and without access to our secondary paper trays. To enable these
options, continue reading. You should be able to print successfully
without completing these steps but double-sided printing will not be
available to you.
12. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Printers and right-click on the printer you just added. Click "Properties."
13. Click on the "Install Options" tab.
14. Select Duplex Option and press "Add" Select 500 Sheet Drawer and press "Add."
15. Set your printing defaults as desired by going to the "General" tab and pressing "Printing Preferences."
