Printing in the Library

To add the Science BW (Dell 5310n) printer to your Mac laptop, follow the instructions below:

1. Save this file to your computer: (Right click, Save-As) OSX-Dell5310n.ppd
2. Go to System Preferences and select "Print & Fax"

3. Unlock the panel using the lock (if necessary) and select the plus key to add a printer:

4. Select an IP Printer with LPD protocol, and set "Address" to libprint3:

5. Set the "Queue" field to "science_bw" :

6. Give the printer a name using the "Name" field. Anything can be used here, but be sure to supply a name that will not confuse the new printer with any previously installed ones (suggest "Science Reference BW).

7. Click the "Print Using" drop-down menu (which by default may read "Generic Postscript Driver") and select "Other..." Then navigate to where the configuration file from Step 1 was saved to, and open it.

8. Press "Add"

9. Configure the settings for the printer, using the following options, and click "Continue":
