Introduction

John Barclay Fisken was born in Scotland in 1861. He came to Spokane, Washington in 1887. He designed and installed three power stations for the Spokane Electric Light and Power Co., and later bacame manager, general superintendent, superintendent of ligh and power, and chief engineer of the Washington Water Power Co.

The papers include annual reports and accompanying documents of the Washington Water Power Co., 1910-1940; notes on early distribution systems; materials on the history of the company; a paper on the development of electric service in eastern Oregon; and photographs of construction and equipment.
