Van Winkle Anderson was a realtor in Portland, Oregon. He was also a writer.

The papers consist of correspondence, 1899-1959, much of it commentary on current events. One section of correspondence concerns properties in Hull, England, 1920-1950. Also included are drafts of three manuscripts.
