Oregon Cooperative Collection Development Planning Project

With a grant from the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) through funds distributed by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the University of Oregon in collaboration with Oregon State University, the Oregon Historical Society, and Lewis & Clark College, is building "Envisioning Oregon." "Envisioning Oregon" is a statewide collaborative project to preserve the living memory of our era and preceding eras through acquiring important collections of historical and literary manuscripts, photographs, organizational records, and sound and video recordings in an intentional and coordinated manner. Across the state, we understand that no single institution working alone can accomplish the immense task of collecting the rich documentary heritage of Oregon. All repositories in Oregon need to work together to identify and gather the most important collections in our state. More...

Summary

Envisioning Oregon is a statewide project funded by the Oregon State Library through the federal Libraries Services and Technology Act (LSTA). The Oregon LSTA program provides funds in support of projects and programs that meet its defined goals. Envisioning Oregon was one of the successful applicants for the 2008 Oregon LSTA awards

LSTA is part of the Grants to States program administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the primary source of federal support for the nation's 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums.

 

Progress

  • Survey has been created and issued 
  • First round of surveys have been tallied Preliminary survey data
  • First round of statewide "townhall" meetings were held in Bend, Philomath, Pendleton, and Portland, and a Southern Oregon venue is being determined. Meeting summary
