Finding articles

Use a Database to find references to articles:

From the Databases and Indexes page, choose Geological Sciences or choose from the alphabetical list.

Best databases for your assignment:

GeoRef

THE database for earth sciences, with citations and abstracts for over 2 million items, from 1785 (for North America) or 1933 (rest of the world) to the present. Covers all areas of geology as well as paleontology, geophysics and hydrology.
An interdisciplinary article index with many full-text articles. Features include ‘peer reviewed only' and ‘full-text only' search options. The mix of scholarly journals and magazines make it a good place to find "popular" science (e.g. Scientific American) articles, and opinion or controversy papers.

Lexis-Nexis Academic

Full-text of worldwide newspapers and magazine/journal articles, as well as government and legal information. Useful for seeing how scientific research and issues are reported to the general public.

Readers' Guide Retrospective

The Readers' Guide Retrospective provides indexing for popular, general-interest magazines published in the United States. Dates of coverage are from 1890-1982.

From inside each citation (with the exception of Lexis-Nexis), you can click on the FindText  icon to see if we have an electronic copy.   This window will appear:
