Electronic reserves support users at all UO Library branches as well as in distance education programs.
How to Submit articles for E-Reserves:
- Complete the Electronic Reserve Request List for text files.
- Attach a copy of your course syllabus or reading list, then submit the readings with your Electronic Reserve Request List:
- Submit web addresses of online articles: The UO Libraries subscribe to online databases which provide the full text of articles in hundreds of journals and newspapers. Librarians at reference desks will work with you to determine the online addresses of these articles. You may submit a list of web addresses via email (see contact information below for email addresses).
- Submit electronic documents by email or disk. Electronic documents (e.g. PDF files) may be submitted to e-reserves as email attachments or brought to the library on CDs or DVDs. Include the source citation on each article. For information about saving files as PDFs, or using other formats, consult with Library reserve or
Scholarly Communications and Instructional Support.
Center for Educational Technologies staff. To have readings from UO Library owned books and journals scanned and sent to you, use our article delivery service
- Provide sharp, unbound, single-sided photocopies of book chapters, articles, notes, or solutions. Include the source citation on each article and mail or bring photocopies to the Library. Library staff will scan your materials for you, however documents that can not be easily scanned with our high-production equipment (e.g. stapled documents, bent pages, double-sided printing) will be placed on reserve in paper format instead. See: Submitting Documents for Electronic Reserves. Documents will be returned to you later in the term.
- Activate your Blackboard coursesite for the class and enable the Get Library reserve readings item in the Course Documents section. This is required to provide password information and links to your e-reserve readings for your students. For more information see Setting up Blackboard for Library E-reserves.

General Information About E-Reserves:
- We need your syllabus or reading list to be sure that your materials are ready by the time your students need them for class assignments.
- Copyright: The fair use provisions of the Copyright Law apply to e-reserves as well as to paper photocopies.
- Password restrictions: online readings are password protected in order to limit access to these materials to students enrolled in the class. The username and password is listed in the Blackboard coursesite in the Course Documents section.
