Library Services for Clark Honors College

  • A web presence on the Honors College page including

  • In-class research session possibilities:
    • Provided by the Honors College Librarian and other appropriate subject specialists
    • Brief overviews of resources
    • Full-class workshop sessions in a computer classroom
    • Sustained involvement (being "embedded") in a course over an entire quarter
    • Design library research projects to match with course assignments

  • Individualized research sessions
    • For faculty and students
    • One-on-one or small group meetings
    • Discuss research, find resources, and learn tricks for efficient use of specialized databases
    • Mutually beneficial -- faculty and students learn about resources, and the librarian is made aware of the research being done currently, allowing for better ongoing support of projects

  • Library Research Guides options:

  • Syllabus support
    • Research assistance to find (and purchase) recent publications to support your syllabi
    • Assistance in finding books, films, and other media in our collections
    • ARTStor is a vast collection of art and cultural images, fully licensed by the UO for educational use
    • Course reserves, both print and electronic

  • Technology (selected options)
    • Videoconferencing when you want to bring far-away scholars to lecture in your class
    • Blackboard support -- for example, discussion boards with a librarian presence, one-on-one tutoring for faculty to learn Bb features
    • Help with creating online tutorials to teach research skills and course concepts
    • Digitizing primary sources for use in research projects -- ex: UO President Clark's papers in Suzanne Clark and David Frank's 2003/04 course "The UO in War and Peace."
