Sponsorship of Campus Events

As a major academic unit of the University of Oregon, the UO Libraries receives regular requests to sponsor or co-sponsor events and programs. Participation in campus events is an important element of the Library's outreach and service mission, and enhances positive connections to the campus community. Requested contributions include use of Library facilities, staff time, media production and distribution, bibliographic research, exhibit preparation, and/or direct budget support.

The University Librarian or designee will evaluate all requests and determine the amount, nature, and source of the Library's contribution(s) to campus events. A prime consideration in making a decision to support any request will be an assessment of the initiative's relationship to the Library's mission and programmatic goals. To this end, the UO Libraries will give preference to events that feature an educational component and/or the use of information resources (e.g., lecture and speaker series, symposia, exhibits, etc.). Additionally, the UO Libraries will lend support to major campus-wide events and/or storied celebrations, especially at the behest of the University of Oregon Administration.
