Filming Policy

Persons wishing to take pictures or film within the UO Libraries are required to first alert library staff in the respective location. For the Knight Library, contact the Office of the University Librarian (Rm. 115). For other libraries, contact the head of the respective branch.

At the point of inquiry, persons wishing to take photographs or videotape will be expected to provide contact information, affiliation and purpose for filming. After obtaining permission, which may be granted immediately or after consultation with other staff, the following guidelines should be observed:

  • The taking of photographs and/or videotaping should not disrupt patrons or staff.
  • Photographs/videos should not be taken of patrons unless they have granted permission to do so.
  • Optimally, filming should be brief. Study or stack areas should not be cordoned off for extended filming especially during the academic/summer terms.
