The Shared Storage Task Force (SSTF) is charged with advising Council on the feasibility and advisability |

of creating a shared storage facility for library materials. |
| |
Issues to consider include |
| |
- Purpose: storage, staff workspace, reading room, etc. |
| |
- Potential use by libraries in Oregon and Washington |
| |
- Facility ownership vs. leasing |
| |
- Geographic location |
| |
- Operation by consortium vs. contracting with a vendor |
| |
- Policies: participation by non-member libraries, collection development, types of materials, multiple |
| |
copies, standards for cataloging & holdings, etc. |
| |
- Legal issues (e.g., out-of-state storage of library materials) |
| |
- Technology for shelving & retrieval including INN-Reach implications & Ariel |
| |
- Cost: start-up & recurring costs, potential sources of funding, cost distribution. Meeting minutes should |
| |
be produced and distributed to task force members and Orbis staff for placement on the Web and |
| |
distribution to Council. |

SSTF is an ad hoc group charged with submitting a progress report to Council by July 2004. |

Funding |
| |
Council encourages maximum use of email in conjunction with Orbis-funded meetings (see funding policy). |
| |
Requests for additional funding or staff support should be presented to the Orbis Council or Executive |
| |
Committee. |
