Map & Aerial Photography (MAP) Library

Research Assistance

Help is available for using the print and digital collections of the MAP Library whenever the Knight Library is open, but professional librarians are generally only available 8am until 5pm on weekdays. The MAP/GIS Librarian is generally available during regular business hours, and several other librarians can provide access to our historic collections.


MAPRS: Map and Aerial Photography Research Service

Please visit the Map and Aerial Photography Research Service page. This service can can sheet maps and deliver them for a similar fee. Fees are $75 per hour, plus duplication fees for scanned maps.  There is a $20 minimum.   Our aerial photography collection is a closed collection, and always requires a written request form to view photos.

Using the Map Library

  • Atlases may be found in at the far rear end of the first floor of the Knight Library, in the general stacks, as well as in storage.  All of our atlases can be found in the library catalog. 
  • Our print map collection is largely uncataloged, and its use is largely a manual affair. All of our maps are arranged with Library of Congress call numbers.  You may find helpful our:
