Help is available for using the print and digital collections of the MAP Library whenever the Knight Library is open, but profession librarians are generally only available 8am until 8pm on weekdays. Other ways of getting in touch with us are:
Assistance is always freely available for university faculty, staff,
and students. We are pleased to offer as much help as we can to
community members who wish to visit the library to use our extensive
collections of maps and atlases. You will receive the best assistance with the map collection if you
phone ahead of your visit. The MAP/GIS Librarian is generally
available during regular business hours, and several other librarians
can provide access to our historic collections. Our aerial photography
collection is a closed collection, and always requires a written
request form and research fee.
We are happy to investigate the land-use history of a given parcel of
property or to duplicate historic maps, but because our primary mission
is to serve the academic and research needs of the University. We regret that we can only offer
basic services to the general public who wish to access materials
remotely. Extended research (generally that which would take more than
15 minutes) will be charged according to the schedule laid out in the Map and Aerial Photography Research Service. We can also scan sheet maps and deliver them for a similar fee. Fees are $75 per hour, plus duplication fees for scanned maps. There is a $20 minimum.
Whenever possible, we strive to offer the same online services to off campus user as we do to those on campus. Visitors may be especially interested in:
