Sample Maps for submitting Map and Aerial Photography Research Requests

Site maps should be of an proportional scale to the area that one would like imagery duplicated for. This means approximately 1:24,000 for smaller sites. The site should be bordered with a square or rectangle . Please make sure to put any relevant information about the site on the map, such as address or TRS coordinates. Vague or confusing maps will delay the research process. Tax Lot maps can be used in additon to the maps descibed above but not as a substitute. Google Maps, Mapquest and Maptech are on-line resources for creating acceptable maps for requests.

For small sites and where location can be derived from street configuration the map below is satisfactory.

The map below, created using Mapquest, is an example of how a larger urban site can be illustrated with boundaries.

The map below, a scan of a USGS 1:100k sheet map in the collection, is an example of how a large rural area of interest can be boundaried.
