Who may use the library? What library services are available to whom?
- The University of Oregon Library is open to the public at no charge. We only limit who may check out materials from the general collections and who can use some services and facilities.
I am not a UO student, faculty, or staff member, but I would like to borrow books. How do I do this?
- The Oregon Card Program,, offered by the University of Oregon Libraries, offers free borrowing to any person who lives in Oregon and is 18 or older.
May I take photographs or videotape in the Library? Whom do I need to ask about taking photos or about videotaping?
- Please inquire at the Office of the Librarian, 115 Knight Library,
or phone the Office at 541/346-3056 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday
- Friday.
Who may use the exhibit cases in the Knight Library?

May I post fliers or posters in the Library to publicize an event?
- No, we do not allow the posting of fliers or putting up posters
in the Knight Library, with the exception of the public bulletin board
in the Daily Grind lounge on the ground floor.
Who can reserve the Browsing Room in the Knight Library?
- The Browsing Room may be reserved by both University and
non-University groups for programs, workshops, etc. There is a fee for
the use of this room. Please inquire at the Office of the Librarian,
115 Knight Library, or phone the Office at 541/346-3056 between 8:00 am
and 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
Are there group study rooms available for use?
- There are group study rooms
available on each floor of the Knight Library. These rooms are
available on a first come, first serve basis when not reserved.
Reservations for a group study may be made at the Office of the
Librarian, 115 Knight Library, or phone the Office at 541/346-3056
between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
Who can reserve the Edmiston Classroom or the ITC Classroom in the Knight Library?
- UO faculty may be able to reserve one of these computer-equipped classrooms for instructional purposes.
