The John D. and Rena J. Edmiston Instruction Laboratory (or Edmiston Classroom) was made possible by a gift from a donor to the 1992 Knight Library expansion and renovation project, in honor of her parents.

Computers in the Edmiston Classroom have names taken from characters and place names portrayed in the movie, The Princess Bride. Why The Princess Bride? No reason, other than we think it's a great story.

Scheduling

Term-Length Scheduling
At present, only courses with an LIB prefix or taught by library faculty may use this classroom as the site for a course.

Ad Hoc Requests
During the first three weeks of the term, this classroom may only be scheduled by library faculty during weekday hours (before 5:00pm). At other times, the classroom may be requested by any faculty member or GTF for course-related instruction, or by staff and faculty representing campus groups for other forms of training. Please use the online calendar to place your request.

This classroom may also be used, on a space available basis, by faculty at other educational institutions, as well as by university-affiliated organizations. Contact the Office of Library Instruction to inquire about availability and fees.

Software

The Libraries install a standard suite of software on the computers in this classroom, intended to serve the needs of most groups using it.

We regret that we are unable to purchase additional software; however, a department may supply software to be installed in the classroom temporarily, along with verification of licensing. Software installed in this manner will be removed at the end of the academic term.

Requests to install software must be received at least two (2) weeks prior to the date of instruction, and the installation disc or discs, with verification of licensing, delivered to Library Systems, Knight Library, no later than ten (10) days prior to the class.

Instructors are strongly encouraged to make arrangements to test software at least a day prior to the class, to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
