Wired and Wireless Classrooms

The library has several classrooms designated as teaching laboratories, offering a technology-rich learning environment to promote the integration of technology and education.

All of these facilities are available for use by the university community, subject to each classroom's policy and availability.

• Edmiston Classroom, 144 Knight Library
  17 Pentium desktop PCs running Windows XP; computer/video projector; VCR; overhead projector; traditional classroom layout (3 rows of desks, with center aisle); maximum capacity is 33 people. Restricted use first three weeks of each academic term.


• ITC Classroom, 267B Knight Library
  21 Dell SX270 PCs running Windows XP; computer/video projector; traditional classroom layout (5 rows of desks, with center aisle); maximum capacity is 41 people. UO instructional use only.


• Proctor 41 Classroom, 41 Knight Library
  35 wireless laptop computers running Windows XP; 3 computer/video projectors; VCR, DVD player, digital document camera, interactive STAR panel; flexible classroom layout (lightweight, portable furniture); capacity is 60 people. Intended for classes engaged in collaborative activities using technology.


• Proctor 42 Classroom, 42 Knight Library
  20 wireless laptop computers running Windows XP; 2 computer/video projectors; VCR, DVD player, digital document camera, interactive STAR panel; flexible classroom layout (lightweight, portable furniture); capacity is 24 people. Intended for classes engaged collaborative activities using technology.
  


• Studio A, lower level, Knight Library Used for originating and receiving teleconferences, telecourses and videoconferences; programs can be sent to, or received from, satellite, Vyvx, Ed-Net 2 compressed video, or Picture-Tel; five large monitors; two remote control cameras; Newtek Video toaster for sophisticated graphics and character generation; VCR; visualizer (an "overhead" for video); ethernet access to the Internet; phone and fax lines; scan convertor (converts computer output to NTSC video); traditional classroom layout (4 rows of tables, with center aisle); maximum capacity is 45 people. Contact Lynette Boone (346-1943) or Andy Kirkpatrick (346-1966) to inquire about or schedule this classroom.

Knight Library also has several study rooms that can be reserved for groups not requiring computers (or who can supply their own); these can accommodate anywhere form 4 to 24 people. Many offer ethernet and/or wireless access to the campus network. Media Services can provide audio, video, and projection equipment for instruction-related use of the group study rooms upon request.
