Zap! Wham! Ka-Pow! The Gardner Fox Comics Collection Exhibit Opens at Knight Library - (October 20, 2009)
A new exhibit in Knight Library features items from the Gardner Francis Fox Collection. Located in the two entryway corridors of the library, the exhibit includes comic book covers, manuscripts, correspondence, fan letters, and research notebooks.

Community Conversations Series Returns This Academic Year - (October 20, 2009)
Community Conversations, UO Housing's series of panel discussions, is back this year with a new crop of topics of interest to university and community members. The UO Libraries continues to play an important collaborative role in Community Conversations, with several library staff members contributing to the programs. These events are free and open to the public.

TEP Workshop Offers Ideas for Improving Students’ Library Research Skills, Thur., Oct. 22 - (October 19, 2009)
On Thursday, October 22, the UO Libraries' Barbara Jenkins will offer UO faculty members and GTFs advice on developing effective library assignments that teach students how to use primary sources, databases, and other library resources to efficiently find materials specific to their research topics. Sponsored by the UO's Teaching Effectiveness Program, the workshop, "Strengthening Student Research Skills Through Effective Library Assignments," will run from 11 a.m to noon in 144 Knight Library (Edmiston Room).

Currently on Display: Little Golden Books Children’s Series - (October 14, 2009)
Special Collections and University Archives, located on the second floor of Knight Library, has over fifty books on display from the Little Golden Books series. Launched in 1942, the series was the first to produce all-color, high-quality story books and make them widely accessible to children.

Conversational Russian at the Russian Table Wednesdays This Term at the Living Learning Center - (October 9, 2009)
If you're interested in learning to speak Russian or brushing up on what you already know, the Russian Table at the Living Learning Center is the place to be. Stop by LLC Room 116 on Wednesday afternoons during fall term and chat with professors, library staff, students, and community members in Russian. Everyone is welcome, from beginning to advanced speakers.

Currently on Display: The Year Was 1969 - (October 6, 2009)
A 1969 vinyl exhibit is on display on the third floor of Knight Library near the Music Services area. 1969 was not only the year of Woodstock. It was also the year Arpanet, precursor to the modern Internet.

Currently on Display: Anatolii Rybakov - An Account of Life under Stalin’s Regime - (October 6, 2009)
A book exhibit in the lobby of Knight Library near the Browsing Room features the international translations of Soviet Era novelist Anatolii Rybakov.

Did you know that using resources available through the UO Libraries to research your class project can help you earn a scholarship? Each year, UO undergraduates produce high-quality research projects using resources housed at the library. Whether you develop your project as a research paper, video project, or web presentation, you can submit it for consideration. Team projects are also eligible for an award.

Knight Library Opens 24 Hours Sunday-Friday - (October 6, 2009)
Beginning Sunday, October 11, Knight Library will be open around the clock on weekdays from 11 A.M. on Sundays through 7 P.M. on Fridays during the 2009-2010 school year. Special thanks to the Associated Students of the University of Oregon (ASUO) for its financial support of the 24/5 program.

"Sounds of Russia" Series Continues Winter Term - (October 5, 2009)
The Sounds of Russia Series features events aimed at educating the public about Russian and Soviet culture through music, dance, and even diskoteka. Events in the series will explore all styles of music in Russia. All sessions begin at 7 P.M. in the Living Learning Center Performance Hall.
