EndNote: Exporting/Importing from OVID

Direct Export: OVID

NOTE: You must be searching the database on the same computer that has the EndNote program.

• From an OVID database, mark records to keep.
• At the bottom of the page:
• May want to change FIELDS to "Citation + Abstract + Subject Headings" to import subject headings.
• Change Results Format to Direct Export
• Select SAVE
• Choose Direct Export results and Contiue
• EndNote will open, and you will be prompted to open an EndNote library. Once you choose a library, records will be automatically entered.

Saving records for importing: OVID

Note: With this method you will be saving records from a database in text format and then importing them into EndNote. You do not need to search and save items from the database on the same computer that has EndNote program.

• From an OVID database, mark records to keep.
• At the bottom of the page:
• May want to change FIELDS to "Citation + Abstract + Subject Headings" to import subject headings.
• Change Results Format to Reprint/Medlars
• Click on SAVE
• Choose the appropriate format (Window, Macintosh, Unix) and Continue
• Save file (will automatically save in text (*.txt) format - do not alter.)
• When importing to EndNote be sure to use appropriate filter
