Creating links to journal articles in EndNote

There are two methods for adding a link in an EndNote reference to access the fulltext of an online article if available via the UO.

  1. Creating a direct link

(only if provider of the electronic journal maintains persistent, stable or durable links to their articles)
  2. Create the capability of linking to UO FindText

Direct links to journal articles

If a provider of an electronic journal maintains persistent, stable or durable links to their articles, it is possible to incorporate those links into an EndNote record. This creates a direct link to the article from your EndNote library.

For directions on how to create a link through a commercial vendor see: Durable Linking Note: These links are routed through the UO Library system and will only work for current UO faculty, students, and staff.

FindText

It is possible to create a link in EndNote to allow you to open the University of Oregon's FindText feature for each reference in EndNote.

Setting up EndNote

A one-time change will be required to your EndNote preferences.

Open the Endnote Edit menu and choose Preferences.

Select OpenURL Change settings as reflected below.

Using in EndNote

After you've made the changes above you will be able to open FindText while looking at an EndNote reference.

Open a reference. Under the Reference tab choose Open URL link.
