Bibliographic management software allows a researcher to create a database or library of references. Records can be created for books, journal articles, book chapters, dissertations, art work, recordings, Web pages, letters, manuscripts, etc. These records can be entered manually or imported directly from a host of library catalogs and commercial databases.
Once a record is in the database, the researcher can create bibliographies of all or selected records, search the database to find records on a specific subject or by an author, and format references in a specific bibliographic style while working in word processing software.
There are several bibliographic management software programs and the library does not endorse one program over another. However since many researchers at the University of Oregon use Endnote and it works with our online catalog and most of our databases, we do provide assistance with EndNote.
The sites linked from this page offer assitstance with downloading material from the catalog and databases into EndNote.
