FINDING DISSERTATIONS
UO Theses
- Search the library's online CATALOG to find dissertations written on U of O campus.
- Use Keywords.
- Type a word or phrase in the search box. For example, consumer behavior.
- Open the drop box of Entire Collection and select UO Theses
- Click Search button.
- Click Modify Search button at the top of next screen.
- Open Language drop box and limit the search to English.
- Click Submit Search.
- Search results are displayed. Click on the title link to review the details of a record.
- Click Next Page to review more records.
- If you get a large number of search results, you may want to check the records of your interest first.
- At search result screen, click Save Record on the left of a record. A check mark appears to indicate that record has been saved.
- After checking the records of your interest, click View Saved Records at bottom of screen or on the top of screen.
- You can e-mail your list of saved records by entering your email address and click Submit.
- To start a new search, click Start Over
Theses from Other Institutions
Search WorldCat to find theses written from other institutions.
- Click WorldCat from Library home page.
- Use Keywords search. Type consumer behavior and (theses or thesis) in the search box.
- Open the drop box of Language and select English
- Search results are displayed on next screen.
- Click the title link to see the full record.
- Click the check box to select the ones of your interest.
- Click Marked Records in the blue bar on the left to view the marked items.
- If you want to e-mail the records to your own account, click E-mail button on top or bottom of screen.
Search Dissertation Abstracts
- Click Articles, Databases, Indexes at library home page.
- Click Browse databases A-Z at next page.
- Select D.
- Click Dissertation Abstracts link at the next page.
- Type your topic in the search box. For example consumer behavior
- Select English in Language.
- Select PhD in Degree Type
- If you want to look at the recent years' dissertations, enter the year range. For example, 1998-2007
- Click the Search button.
- Search Results are shown on next screen. Click the title link to view the details of a record.

FINDING ARTICLES
To find journal, or magazine, or newspaper articles, search the following databases:
- Academic Search Premier
Offers indexing and abstracts for over 2,880 journals covering areas in social sciences, humanities, general science, and education. Provides full text for nearly 1,380 journals.
- Business Source Premier
Full text from nearly 930 journals covering business, management, economics, banking, finance, accounting and much more. In addition to the full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for nearly 1,570 journals.
- Conference Board Research Online Collection
The Conference Board's Research Online Collection is a searchable database of full-text research reports on the latest issues in business management and US and global economics. Proprietary, nonbiased research includes studies of F500 companies on business trends, leadership decisions, performance excellence, corporate governance, HR, productivity, CRM and more. Economics material includes US and global economic indicators and analysis and forecasts of regional, national, and international economic conditions.
- Factiva
Factiva offers full text of 8,000 international business and general publications including the Wall Street Journal from 1984 to the present, financial profiles for companies worldwide and historical stock prices as well as current data and market indexes.
- JSTOR: Electronic Journal Archive
A fully searchable electronic database that contains the scanned images of over 100 major research journals in a variety of academic disciplines including business and economics, some of which began publication as early as the 1870s.
- Lexis-Nexis Academic
Provides comprehensive coverage of current news, business and company information, government and legal information, and more.
- ScienceDirect
ScienceDirect is the web database of approximately 1,800 Elsevier journals covering mostly scientific, technical and medical (STM) literature, but also business, law and other social sciences. The UO's access combines paid subscriptions to nearly 200 electronic only titles and pay per view access (PPV) to the remaining Elsevier titles.
- Wall Street Journal (Eastern Edition)
The Wall Street Journal, the financial newspaper of record, is an indispensable source for business professionals, providing business and financial news coverage, personal and company profiles, feature reporting, special reports, and regular columns. The database provides the full-text articles from the Wall Street Journal going back to at least 1986, with some material from earlier years. It includes the entire text of written articles, but no graphs or data, such as stock prices.
- Web of Science
The Web of Science provides access to both the Science Citation Index (SCI) Expanded and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), from 1975 to the present. The database can be searched to look for words in article titles, by author, and to look for cited references.
