Rare Books, Manuscripts & Archives

The University of Oregon Libraries hold numerous primary source collections on various topics and in various formats. Included are rare books, facsimile and online editions of literary and historic works, the Oregon Collection of books and periodicals, personal manuscripts of individuals, archival records of the University and other organizations, architectural drawings, original artwork, and more. Articles from magazines, journals, and newspapers

Publications written at the time of an event often reflect individual perspectives and direct observations. The UO Libraries maintain an extensive collection of newspapers, including Oregon newspapers on microfilm, searchable with Oregon newspaper indexes. More >>

Facsimile editions of printed works

The UO Libraries collect facsimile editions of important works in print, microfilm, or online formats. Many are housed in Microforms . Printed editions are housed in the general collections of the Knight Library and in branch libraries. Major online collections in facsimile include E Early English Books Online (EEBO)
and Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO).

Government Publications

The United States government is reputed to be the largest publisher in the world. The Document Center on the 1st floor of the Knight Library holds a wealth of government information from the U.S. and beyond.

Manuscripts

Manuscript collections consist of personal papers, business records, architectural drawings, and original artwork. The collections represent a wide variety of subject matter and disciplines. Rare Books

The Rare Book Collection in Special Collections and University Archives includes a large general collection and several named collections. The collection consists of unique publications, some dating back to the 13th century, and includes limited and first editions. More >>
