Initiate a collaborative study to look at all the open-access computer labs on campus with the goal of redesigning and creating a coordinated network of computer lab services to improve and unify both the Library's and the Computing Center's facilities. More >>

Create the next-generation of Learning Commons

A "learning commons" typically involves a collaborative facility jointly developed and managed by a campus library, computing center, and sometimes other academic support units. Redesign library website; create appropriate and sustainable website support and coordination

The University of Oregon Libraries' website is our primary virtual environment. This initiative would establish a permanent (rather than ad hoc) web team and begin a redesign process for a target launch of Summer 2006. More >>

Articulate new models of reference service

Look beyond one-on-one reference desk delivery for proactive models that extend service to a larger segment of the campus community; make maximum use of the expertise of reference librarians; look for natural opportunities for collaboration and linkage (for example, Blackboard). More >>

Improve access to and use of classroom technology

Work with the Ed Tech Committee to determine and priorities and install new classroom equipment in general use and departmental classrooms. Implement improvements in faculty training options and troubleshooting response. More >>

Conclude planning for Regional Library Services Center (RLSC)

Along with key stakeholders within the Orbis Cascade Consortium, engage in final planning stage for the RLSC. As the largest future occupant in a shared storage system, and as fiscal agent for the consortium, the UO will play a leadership role in developing models for funding and operation. More >>

Implement programs and processes in line with campus diversity recommendations

Library Diversity Committee will work with administration to improve recruitment strategies. Library Assessment team will conduct an organizational climate survey. More >>
