CALYX is one of the premier literary journals giving voice and vision to women, with a persistent reputation as a publisher of fine literature and art. Since its beginnings in 1976, CALYX has been committed to publishing the work of all women, including women of color, lesbians, older women, working-class women, and others whose voices are no longer silent. This Index to CALYX's authors and artists grew out of the University of Oregon Library's celebration of Women's History Month. This celebration honors both CALYX and Abigail Scott Duniway, an early feminist who was instrumental in gaining the vote for women in the state of Oregon. The CALYX Index has been prepared by Sara Brownmiller, Women's Studies Librarian, UO Library, and Emily Glenn, Orbis Lending Coordinator, UO Library. |
