Baseball: Researching the National Pastime

Baseball Simulations

Baseball fans have never been content just to play the sport and watch the games on the field. There is a long tradition of simulating the game in various ways: mechanical simulations, tabletop baseball games, computer and video games are favorite pastimes of many fans. Some simulations strive for statistically accurate reproductions of Major League players and teams, while others seek to provide arcade-style simulations of the action on the field.

Board games such as APBA and Strat-O-Matic have been popular since the 1950s. Video games and computer simulations entered the field in the 1980s and boomed in popularity. There are dozens of different games currently on the market, enough to satisfy any taste.
