Baseball: Researching the National Pastime

Baseball Books

Baseball generates more good writing than any other sport. There are always good books coming out that detail the game and its many interesting teams and players. In addition to outstanding baseball writers in the mold of Roger Angell and Thomas Boswell, the game has attracted the interest of many well-known and accomplished writers in other fields such as Doris Kearns Goodwin, Stephen Jay Gould, John Updike, and George Will.

Much good baseball writing can be found in the periodical literature as well as books. Some important periodicals are The Sporting News, Baseball Digest, and Sports Weekly.
