LDC attended a 2-day diversity workshop held at Oregon State University in Corvallis. Sponsored the video showing of "My Family/Mi Familia" in honor of Cinco de Mayo for library staff. Regular contact with library staff regarding diversity events through the monthly "Diversity Doings" articles in the Library Staff Association's newsletter.

Created Week of Welcome exhibit in Knight Library, August 10-October 31, 2002 with the theme: Welcome to the University of Oregon Libraries : Connecting Diverse Resources with a Diverse Community. Associated websites were created about the display and a "UO Authors\" site. Special interview with former staff member, Lee McQueen, appeared in August 2002 issue as an appeal for donations to ALA's Spectrum Scholarship Program.

Ex-officio: Laine Stambaugh, Director, Library Human ResourcesHighlights: The LDC hosted two presentations: Mi-Hyang Kim, visiting librarian from Korea, spoke about Korean libraries; and Tim McMahon, Kimi Mojica, and Chicora Martin presented to library faculty and staff on diversity issues. LDC members began contributing regular diversity-themed articles to the staff newsletter. Responsibility for the Multicultural Resource Guide was transferred to the CoDaC (Center on Diversity and Community) office on campus, and arrangements were made to collaborate and communicate more effectively with this office in the future. A substantial online guide to diversity-based and interdisciplinary research was developed; this guide will provide the basis of a presentation by Karen Munro at the Oregon Library Association's conference in April, 2004.

Ex-officio: Laine Stambaugh, Director, Library Human ResourcesHighlights: Much of the Library Diversity Committee's efforts in 2006 went into the Library Diversity Plan, which was completed in the summer of 2007, which the help of the library community as a whole. To facilitate the creation of the plan, a Library Administration liaison - Mark Watson - was permanently added to the committee. He has made a positive impact on the committee's work.
The plan was not the only focus of the committee in 2006. In addition, exhibits workshops and events were hosted, and the LDC website was converted to the library's content management system. The Civil Rights at the University of Oregon exhibit was created by a UO student, and conceived of by the LDC, in conjunction with University Archivist, Heather Briston and Professor Suzanne Clark's course on the history of the university. In addition, workshops hosted, included a disability workshop, cultural communication, a Jewish literature series, and three lunch films.
