About Us

Mission

The Center for Educational Technologies, CET, is a one-stop shop for UO instructors who want to make more effective use of technology in their teaching. CET provides assistance and referrals for educational technology training, support, and production. Our mission is to promote active learning through innovative use of technology. The professional and student staff offers training, consulting and project management as needed to address instructional goals, and in addition manages several UO instructional computing resources, notably the Blackboard course management system. Our goals are to support your use of technology in teaching, and help you develop innovative new uses of educational technology.

CET was initially established as a new library department in fall of 2004, bringing together the former FITT Center, Blackboard project, and Interactive Media Group. Primary funding for CET is provided by the UO Educational Technology fee, with additional funding from library general fund, and a small amount of cost recovery for projects done on behalf of UO grant-funded activities. Most CET services are provided to faculty and GTFs for free in support of CRN-related (instructional) activities.
