The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service obtains materials not owned by the UO Libraries for students, faculty, staff, and others. We also lend UO materials to other libraries. Through cooperative lending agreements with libraries throughout the world we provide access to millions of items not available locally.

For information about how to request these materials see Making Interlibrary Loan Requests.

Submit an ILL request:

For quickest delivery, first check Summit. If not available to you there, use WorldCat to place your request. Article requests should be submitted through a FirstSearch database or other electronic indices by using the (Find Text) button.

For the few items you cannot locate in those resources use the following forms. Holders of Oregon Cards may also use these forms to submit ILL requests:

Summit Borrowing

The Orbis Cascade Alliance is a consortium of libraries in Oregon and Washington and includes the Center for Research Libraries (CRL). These institutions have combined the holdings of their library catalogs into a single catalog named Summit, and have made agreements concerning reciprocal on-site borrowing privileges for their faculty, students, and staff.

Summit Borrowing allows current faculty, staff, and students from the UO to request items from other Orbis Cascade libraries to be sent to the UO.

Requesting a Summit item:

  • If you cannot locate a title in the UO Libraries catalog, or if it is checked out from the UO, pass your search through to the Summit catalog by clicking on the button.
  • You will be notified via email when the item is ready for pickup, or you may check your patron record to see if it has arrived.

Summit Loan Periods and Renewals:

General collections: 6 weeks no renewals.

Restricted collections: 3 days no renewals.

On-site Borrowing when Visiting Other Libraries

NCU, Summit Libraries, and GWLA libraries:  UO students, faculty, and staff who visit Northwest Christian University or any of the member institutions of the Orbis Cascade Alliance (Summit) or the Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA) may borrow materials from their collections according to their local policies.

ARL/OCLC libraries:  Also, UO faculty planning to do research at another Association of Research Libraries-OCLC library may be issued an ARL-OCLC card which provides for free on-site borrowing at any of those libraries. Please contact the head of Access Services (chappell@uoregon.edu) or the manager of the Circulation/Reserves unit (lwilley@uoregon.edu) before you leave town.
