Purpose
Knight Library has studies available to registered graduate students who are engaged in extensive library research while working on their dissertation, thesis or final project assignment. They are not to be used as offices or conference space, or as group study rooms. The study is for use by the assigned occupant only. Users must return their study keys promptly at the end of their assigned term: no later than 5pm, Friday of Finals Week.
Application Process
Application forms are available in Library Administration, Knight Library, Room 115. This form must be filled out completely and signed by the student. There is a $10.00 refundable deposit for the key. The key is not to be duplicated or given to other individuals. If the key is lost or misplaced, please inform Library Administration staff immediately.
Due to the limited number of studies and high demand for space, the room assignments will only be for a single term for master's students, and two terms for doctoral students (fall, winter, spring, or summer) during the length of the program. Extension requests can no longer be considered.
Regulations for Use of Graduate Studies
The Library is not responsible for damage to, or loss of, any personal property left in the study. We recommend that you not leave items of value in the room.
Please do not move furniture into or out of the study. Report damage to furniture to Library Administration.
Food/Drink/Tobacco: Please use spill-proof mugs or pull-top bottles. Left over food should be removed from the room. Use of tobacco is prohibited.
Library materials stored in the study must be checked out. Non-circulating materials (such as journals or reference items) cannot be locked in the study. Staff may remove library materials that are not checked out or are significantly overdue. Overdue and recall fines continue to accrue for items stored in graduate studies.
Walls and windows are to be kept clean and free of any postings, artwork, etc. Staff must be able to see inside the study when closing the building and during emergencies and inspections.
The computer jack in the study is activated for ethernet access. For help on getting connected, contact Microcomputer Services at 346-4412, or http://it.uoregon.edu/help/getconnected/.
As a courtesy to library and custodial staff, please maintain an orderly appearance of the study.
Study rooms are designated as "quiet areas." Please be considerate of neighboring occupants.
The Library reserves the right to withdraw the study assignment if there is a consistent pattern of abuse of these regulations, or if the study is not being used by the person to whom it is assigned.
Please be sure to remove all library materials and personal belongings when you are ready to vacate the study. Any remaining items will be taken to Library Lost and Found, located in Library Administration, Rm. 115.
